PORTFOLIO

Jessie Thijs

As an open-minded and entrepreneurial creative, I thrive on creative challenges, visual aesthetics and engaging stories.
With a strong sense of communication, a hands-on mentality and genuine drive, I’m always eager to step into new projects.

CAPTIVATED BY STORIES

Stories create connection.

They allow me to listen, to understand, and to make space for others.
I’m naturally curious and I try to make the people around me feel safe enough to share what truly matters to them.

Through stories, I get to learn about different cultures, meanings, and ways of seeing the world, constantly questioning my own.

As a songwriter, brand ambassador and videojournalist for RTV (a regional television channel), I speak to real people every day.
Their honesty, vulnerability and resilience fuels me.

PASSION FOR VISUAL IDENTITY

I have always been drawn to visual identity and aesthetic design. From an early age, I found myself designing
invitations, business cards, and posters, for projects, friends and my own home.

My interest in photography naturally evolved into filmmaking. Since working as a video journalist, I have developed my visual language through filming and editing, with experience in:

after-effects

From an early age, I found myself drawn to the world behind the camera. I started out on Ketnet sets helping in the props department, observing how a television production comes together and writing down timecodes in the VRT montage cells.

Performing in musicals and touring cultural centers across Belgium and the Netherlands with Kunstbende deepened my love for theatre, film and all-round storytelling.

These experiences gave me a strong foundation in production, teamwork and set & stage design.

Some of the sets and stages I’ve had the opportunity to work on: live directing for 3 sold-out cultural center concerts by pop choir Blend, on-set assistance for Czar and assistance on an  Enfnts Terribles campaign for Ann Demeulemeester.

POWER OF VOICE

My relationship with voice is deeply rooted in practice. I am a singer and I have spent my life using my voice , on stage, in front of an audience, and in the studio. Performing has taught me how to communicate with intention, how to hold attention, and how to translate emotion into sound.

Because I have worked with my voice for as long as I can remember, speaking and storytelling feel intuitive. I move easily between listening and expressing, between asking questions and giving space.

This familiarity allows me to engage in meaningful conversations, both on and off camera.

TECH & INNOVATION EXPLORER

Driven by curiosity, I developed a basic understanding of HTML and CMS systems and feel at home working with digital tools. I recently began producing my own music using Logic Pro and Ableton Live, expanding my creative practice into new technical territory.

I actively follow emerging technologies and approach them with openness rather than fear. I see tools like AI as a way to enhance creativity when used consciously and critically. I’m especially interested in how technology can create more immersive shows and experiences, how online worlds take shape, and how storytelling evolves through innovation. Inspired from an early age by visions of the future, from films like Back to the Future , I’m constantly imagining where we’re headed next.
